In an interview on Biola Bayo’s show Talk to B, Nollywood actress Doris Simeon revealed the emotional toll of her custody battle with ex-husband Daniel Ademinokan.
Speaking candidly, Doris shared how she grappled with frustration and depression but remained strong, drawing on her parents’ teachings of resilience.
Doris recounted how Ademinokan took their son to the United States when he was just 4 years old, and since then, her maternal bond has been severely limited. She described her struggles to connect with her son:
I was calling, but he wouldn’t pick up. When he did, he’d say he was busy, and for another 3 to 4 months, I couldn’t reach him.”
Despite the immense pain, Doris never allowed her struggles to show outwardly.
Their separation dates back to 2010, followed by a custody decision that left Doris unable to fulfill her motherly role. Daniel later married actress Stella Damasus, who reportedly contributed to the strain between Doris and her son. However, in 2018, Doris briefly reunited with her son on her birthday, marking a rare moment of joy.
Daniel and Stella’s marriage ended in 2020 over irreconcilable differences, with Daniel moving to another state in the U.S. He has since married movie director Tope Oshin, with whom he welcomed a child in 2023. Fans have rallied around Doris, celebrating her strength and criticizing Stella’s past actions, which many believe were unfair and hurtful.
