Eberechi Eze, a player of Nigerian descent, scored from the penalty spot in Crystal Palace and West Ham 7-goal thriller. Goals from Jordan Ayew, Zaha, Eze and Jeffrey Schlupp were enough to secure three points for Crystal Palace. Although, the hammers almost equalised as the game ended 4-3 at Selhurst Park.

Palace was aggrieved about not being awarded a penalty in first-half stoppage time. Their player, Zaham was hauled down in the area by Vladimir Coufal. However, the referee, Craig Pawson, did point to the spot until 66 minutes after when Aguerd was adjudged to have tugged Eze as he raced through on goal.

After a VAR review, Eze stepped up and sent Lukasz Fabianski the wrong way as they established a 4-2 lead.

Speaking after the match Eze said –

We worked hard, we gave everything. They’re good at set-pieces and that was their main threat today. We did what we could at the end and we’re happy to get the three points today.”

Crystal Palace’s win means Chelsea drops down to 12th in the Premier League. Furthermore, Palace is mathematically safe to avoid relegation.
