Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru has announced a N10,000 lunch allowance for each civil servant in the state to mark the 2025 Workers’ Day.

This was revealed during the Workers’ Day celebration at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki, where Nwifuru expressed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the state’s workforce.

The governor highlighted the importance of rewarding hard work and professionalism and assured that his government would continue to prioritize the improvement of workers’ conditions.

Despite the economic challenges, he promised that salaries would be paid on time and efforts would be made to clear pensions and gratuities dating back to 1996.

Nwifuru also announced the introduction of a new retirement system to ease the process for civil servants.

This initiative complements his previous efforts to improve workers’ welfare, including the approval of a N75,000 minimum wage and the recruitment of 1,700 teachers to address personnel shortages in public schools.
