Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, a renowned media personality, recently shared his perspective on fame, describing it as a “necessary evil” that accompanies a public career. During an appearance on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds, co-hosted by Beauty Tukura and Prince Nelson, the popular BBNaija host expressed his ambivalence towards fame, stating that he never actively sought it and does not particularly enjoy being famous.
While acknowledging the benefits that come with fame, Ebuka emphasized that if given the choice, he would prioritize his career and the financial rewards it brings over the trappings of celebrity status.
I have never been a fan of fame, and if you know me, I think you can tell,” Ebuka shared candidly. “I have never courted fame. I have never chased fame. I have never really thrived in it. I’m not the kind of person who seeks attention outside of my work. So, most of the time, if you see me being talked about, it’s because of my work, not because of something unrelated to it.”
He further expressed his disinterest in fame, stating,
I don’t know if I have ever truly enjoyed fame or if I have ever really liked it that much. Yes, it comes with certain benefits that I can’t deny. However, I also understand that it is a necessary aspect that accompanies having a career in the public eye.”
Ebuka concluded by expressing his preference for a career that brings financial rewards while maintaining a lower profile. If given the choice, he would opt for the success and financial stability that his career offers, without the fame that comes with it.
