The Independent National Electoral Commission’s (REC) resident electoral commissioner (REC) for Edo State, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, stated on Monday that the Commission only monitored one All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary, which was held at the Lushville Hotel and Suites.

At a news conference held in Benin City, the REC revealed this.

It was said that during the process of collating and announcing the results, political goons broke into the Lushville Hotel and Suite, causing disruptions, attacking reporters, and damaging their equipment.

The thugs also assaulted APC electoral officers.

The REC stated that the Supreme Court has decided to oversee party primaries.

According to him:

“The national body will write to INEC national chairman of the venue, and the date and the time of the primary, and that we followed strictly.

“Any political party primaries that was not minuted to us by our headquarters, we will not monitor.

“We were notified by APC and we monitored the one we were invited which was at Lushville Hotel. I was there, that was where I went.”
