Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has distributed N150 million in gratuities to 64 retired local government officials and teachers.
This came barely three months after the governor handed out N130 million in gratuities to another group of retired local government personnel and elementary school teachers.
The governor said this during the event in Ado Ekiti on Thursday,
He stated:
“With God on our side, we will continue to do more. Be rest assured that this administration will continue to place high premium on the payment of pension and gratuity as and when due.
“I stand before you today to reiterate the commitment of our administration to the welfare of all Ekiti citizens. We are passionately committed to utilising available resources to the greatest advantage, pleasure, and comfort of our people.”
Chief Folorunsho Olabode, Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, commended the governor for emphasising senior citizens’ well-being and advised the recipients to make good use of the money.
Elder Joel Akinola, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, praised the governor.
Also, a senior citizen, Mr Sunday Adeosun, who spoke on behalf of recipients, thanked the governor for “walking his talk and for keeping to his campaign promises.”
