Mrs. Beatrice Ekweremadu, the wife of former Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has returned to Nigeria.

A reliable source confirmed to newsmen on Wednesday that Mrs. Ekweremadu arrived in the country on Tuesday, following her release from prison in the United Kingdom.

Mrs. Ekweremadu, her husband Senator Ike Ekweremadu, and one Dr. Obinna Obeta had earlier been convicted by a UK court for their involvement in an organ harvesting case. The court sentenced Senator Ekweremadu to 10 years in prison, while Mrs. Beatrice Ekweremadu received a six-year sentence.

The news of her return has sparked celebrations across Enugu State, where the Ekweremadu family has strong ties. Residents and supporters have expressed joy over her release and are offering prayers for the swift return of Senator Ekweremadu.

“She has endured a tough ordeal, and we are grateful to have her back home. We continue to pray for her husband’s early release as well,” a supporter said during a gathering.

The case involving the Ekweremadus had attracted widespread attention both in Nigeria and internationally, with mixed reactions to the court’s decision.

As Mrs. Beatrice Ekweremadu settles back into life in Nigeria, her return is being seen as a step toward healing and reconciliation for her family and supporters, who hope to reunite with Senator Ekweremadu in the near future.
