Elon Musk, the CEO of the electric car business Tesla, has regained his position as the richest person in the world.
For the first time ever, the American billionaire, who was born in South Africa, surpassed Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, by over $400 billion in the most recent Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Elon Musk’s net worth increased to $447 billion on Thursday, surpassing Bezos’s, who has been the richest person since the beginning of this year, by more than $190 billion, according to the Bloomberg Index.
Tesla’s stock achieved a record high of $424.77 on December 11.
Following a fresh round of funding, Musk’s artificial intelligence business, xAI, more than doubled in value in November, reaching $50 billion from just a few months prior, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Elon Musk is the biggest individual stakeholder in Tesla and the owner of X, the microblogging site that was formerly known as Twitter.
In the run-up to the November 5 presidential election, the billionaire was a fervent supporter of Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States.
