Elon Musk: Twitter to Remove Inactive Accounts

In a tweet on Monday, May 8, the CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, announced that the social media platform would remove accounts that have been inactive for an extended period. Twitter’s policy dictates that users must log in at least once every 30 days to avoid permanent removal due to prolonged inactivity.

While this move may seem overdue, it will significantly drop follower counts for many users. Musk cautioned that removing inactive accounts could cause a drop in follower matter for some users on the micro-blogging platform.

Musk’s announcement comes after he made significant changes to Twitter since becoming CEO earlier this year. Thousands of people, including celebrities, journalists, and prominent politicians, had the verified blue tick removed from their profiles last month.

Elon Musk has also made account verification a part of Twitter’s Blue subscription, which he claims will help combat the issue of bot accounts on the social media platform.

As Twitter continues to evolve under Musk’s leadership, we’re curious how these changes will impact the platform’s user experience and overall reach.
