The British actress, Emily Blunt, will take a break from acting this year to prioritize spending quality time with her family. Blunt, married to actor John Krasinski and a mother of two daughters, shared her decision on the “Table for Two” podcast.
When asked about balancing her career with motherhood, Blunt confessed that she often feels like she’s not getting it right. However, she expressed her intention to prioritize her family this year by taking a hiatus from work.
Blunt has been actively involved in various film projects since the births of her daughters, including “A Quiet Place” and its sequel, “Mary Poppins Returns,” and the TV mini-series “The English.” She also has upcoming projects, such as the release of “Oppenheimer” on July 21, which coincides with the release of the “Barbie” movie.
Explaining her decision, Blunt emphasized the importance of being present for her children’s formative years. As her oldest child approaches double digits, she recognizes the significance of being there for them during key moments, such as waking them up, taking them to school, picking them up, and putting them to bed.
Blunt acknowledged that while she had a fulfilling time working on her projects last year, some were more intense and time-consuming than others. She also pointed out the emotional toll such projects can have on her and her children, leading her to reassess her priorities.
Reflecting on the guilt often experienced by mothers who desire something beyond motherhood, Blunt shared her hopes for her children to find passions and pursuits they adore in the future.
