England’s women’s team suffered a setback as Chelsea forward Lauren James was ruled out of the Euro 2025 qualifiers against France due to a foot injury.

Lauren James, a key player for Chelsea, has been withdrawn from the England squad after sustaining a foot injury. This injury will keep her out of both matches against France – Friday’s game at St James’ Park and the return match on Tuesday at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Etienne.

Tottenham’s Jess Naz has been called up to replace James. The 23-year-old forward could make her debut for the Lionesses in the upcoming matches, bringing a fresh option to Sarina Wiegman’s squad.

England enters these crucial qualifiers two points behind France in their group. After drawing with Sweden and defeating Ireland 2-0, England aims to overtake France and secure a top spot in their group.

These matches are vital for England as they seek to defend their European crown, won in 2022. Securing top position in their group will be crucial for their confidence and momentum heading into the tournament in Switzerland next year.

Despite James’ absence, England will look to leverage their depth and talent to secure victories. The team remains focused on qualifying for Euro 2025 as group winners and establishing themselves as strong contenders for the title.

While losing Lauren James is a significant blow, the addition of Jess Naz offers new possibilities for the Lionesses. England is determined to perform well in these qualifiers and continue their journey toward Euro 2025 with high hopes.
