Sunday Omisakin, an ex-convict recently granted a state pardon by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has been remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre just eight days after his release.

Omisakin, who was among 53 inmates pardoned on December 26, 2024, under the governor’s prerogative of mercy, was accused of burgling a residence in Osogbo on January 3, 2025. He allegedly stole a plasma television valued at ₦600,000 from the property.

The police apprehended Omisakin shortly after the incident. He was charged with burglary and stealing before a Magistrates’ Court in Osogbo, presided over by Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Kayode Adeoye, disclosed that the alleged crime took place at approximately 12:00 p.m. in the Al-Medinat area of Iludun, Osogbo. The stolen television was reportedly recovered during investigations.

The charges state that Omisakin unlawfully entered the home of one Shittu Damilare with the intent to commit theft, an offence contrary to sections 411(1)(2), 363, and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

Magistrate Adeyeba ordered that the ex-convict be remanded at the correctional facility pending further legal proceedings. The case has been adjourned to a later date for hearing.
