Yahaya Bello, the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, has pleaded not guilty to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s 19-count charges.
The former governor is on trial for suspected money laundering in the amount of N80 billion.
He denied all charges and pled not guilty.

When the case was brought for hearing on Friday, EFCC Counsel Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, informed the Federal High Court in Abuja that the Prosecution intended to withdraw an earlier move for an extension of the date originally set for arraignment.
Pinheiro said that events had overtaken the application. Yahaya Bello’s counsel, led by Joseph Daudu, SAN, made no objections, and Justice Emeka Nwite granted the request.
