Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan professional footballer who currently plays as a right-back for French club Paris Saint-Germain, has been in the headlines for his marriage, alleged rape case, and divorce. Hakimi tied the knot with Hiba Abouk, a Spanish-Tunisian actress, in June 2020. Hakimi and Abouk’s relationship was highly publicized in the media. They were often seen sharing their pictures on social media. The couple appeared to be happy and in love, and their fans were delighted to see them together. It was however shocking that Hiba Abouk filed for divorce around March 2023.
Achraf Hakimi was recently investigated for an alleged sexual assault, causing shockwaves throughout the sporting world. The investigation was handed over to the Sûreté territorial, following accusations from a 24-year-old woman who claimed to have been raped at the player’s home in Boulogne-Billancourt on February 25. Reacting to the incident, Hakimi’s ex-wife, Hiba Abouk, took to her Instagram story to express her disbelief and shock at the charges, stating that she had already separated from Hakimi before the alleged incident took place.
She wrote-
“It goes without saying that I have always been and will always be on the side of the victims, therefore, given the seriousness of the accusations, we can only trust in the good work of justice,”
However, the story doesn’t end there. According to recent reports, Abouk has failed to receive any payout from Hakimi during their divorce proceedings. It has emerged that the footballer had put his assets in his mother’s name. This prevents Abouk from claiming any share of it during the divorce settlement.
All his houses, cars, clothes, and jewellery were found to be in his mother’s name. Furthermore, millions in salary were deposited in accounts bearing his mother’s name. It was reported that 80% of all that he owns is registered in his mother’s name.
Hakimi’s move of not having his wealth registered in his name has made news worldwide. Many hailed him for being ‘wise’ and a living legend in protecting his assets. Others however castigated Hakimi and his mother.
A Twitter user said,
“They’re just married for 3 years and she wants half his property already. If they were married for 20 years she would have requested for his life alongside the entire properties. Black athletes should learn from this,”
“Mummy boy for life. We may argue disagree sometimes even block them for sanity’s sake, and unblock them afterward. But when it comes to making life decisions, mummy’s boy for life,” Agu Ofodile opined.
“This is not right. Yes, things may have happened that leads them to divorce. But she is a human being, who sacrificed 2years of her life with Hakimi. She gave him something everyone human being needs, companionship. She deserves to leave with something,” countered James Atite Sr.
It remains to be seen how the issue of transferring assets to family members to protect wealth during a divorce settlement will be tackled in the future. Especially in high-profile cases like this. But for now, the story of Achraf Hakimi’s divorce and alleged sexual assault continues to be a topic of conversation among fans and the media alike.

I believe we can conclude that the lady never loved him. She was just waiting for the right moment and opportunity to milk him. As unfortunately for her, he’s smarter. I hope African footballers can learn from him. Nice write up, Kunle.
That woman knew exactly what she wanted right from the beginning. You claim to love somebody even when you can’t voch for them???? Even if there had been a divorce before the incident, you should be able to come out and say, ” no I don’t believe this” ” No my partner wouldn’t do this” A Yoruba adage will say, ” Anja bi ka ku ko” knowing fully well that whatever you say contributes to whatever opinion the public or even the court has of him.
She’s just pained she couldn’t get anything off the guy. You’ve only been married for two years and you want half of everything he has worked for all his life????? She sure is crazy as hell. Even his mother that has been with him all his life wouldn’t request for such.
