The winners of the “Mr Yakubu Challenge” have been declared by Falz the Bad Guy. Falz is a well-known activist and rapper from Nigeria. To convey their opinions about the recently ended 2023 elections, the musician and his colleague Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, better known by his stage as Vector, produced a song in March called “Mr Yakubu” in honour of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The MrYakubuChallenge was started online as a result of the song. Many Nigerians, including famous people, demonstrated their vocal prowess by singing their favourite verses.
Falz had Last week announced that he would be joining forces with Vector to release an extended remix version of Mr Yakubu. He stated that the top three entries will feature in his upcoming project while announcing the winners on his Instagram page. Falz said he underestimated the challengers. They have now become too “dope” to be ignored so he stretched the number to 10.
He wrote:
“We initially announced that there would be three winners from the challenge. We later realized that was an underestimate. There are too many dope entries that we cannot ignore, so we decided to stretch that number to 10! Even this was tough.
”All winners would be featured on the extended remix version of Mr. Yakubu. One of the tracks on the Falz x VEC collaboration project dropping in a bit.”
