Renowned fashion designer Toyin Lawani has taken to social media to express her deep concern regarding the growing prevalence of fake lifestyles among young individuals, particularly girls. Her remarks come in the wake of the tragic story of Augusta, a young girl who was fatally stabbed by her boyfriend, Killaboi, in Lagos.

Lawani believes that it is crucial for parents to actively guide their children and caution them against falling into the trap of living a fake lifestyle. She emphasizes the need for parents to remain vigilant and teach their children the importance of choosing the right path.

In her heartfelt post, Lawani draws attention to the current state of affairs, where many young individuals dangerously exhibit their youthful exuberance solely to imitate an international, fake lifestyle. She urges parents to set boundaries and shield their children from certain influences. Lawani firmly believes that children can still be exposed to the world, demonstrate intelligence, and remain grounded with the right guidance from their parents.

The fashion designer expresses deep sadness at the current situation, observing that many children’s behaviours break her heart. She places responsibility on parents, asserting that young children should not be exposed to a life of excess, travelling to multiple international destinations in just a few days and engaging in parties and relationships with older individuals. Lawani questions the justification for crying and expressing remorse when tragedy strikes in such situations, as it cannot bring back a lost life.

Lawani also points out that some parents play a role in perpetuating this greed-driven lifestyle among their children. She raises questions about the sources of funding and the lifestyles some girls pursue, despite lacking legitimate work or businesses. Lawani encourages parents to be more attentive and inquire about the extravagant possessions their children bring home. She sees a world where young individuals are funding their parents, leading to a distorted reality.

The fashion designer concludes her message by urging parents to wake up and be more aware, emphasizing that nobody deserves to die in such tragic circumstances. She acknowledges that everyone has their own opinions, but insists on the importance of speaking the truth, even if it means standing alone.
