Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has announced that President Bola Tinubu has approved the construction of 40 residences for Justices of the Court of Appeal, the Federal High Court, and the FCT High Courts.
The Minister disclosed this at the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the court complex Abuja division of the Court of Appeal, which was place at the site of the planned facility in Dakibiyu, Jabi District, Abuja on Wednesday.
He further stated that the President has approved the establishment of retirement houses for court heads such as the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, the Chief Judge of the FCT, the President of the National Industrial Court, and the President of the Court of Appeal.
According to Wike:
“I want to assure you, by the grace of God, the foundation of these homes will be laid this August and before September next year, you will all have your keys to your houses.”
The first taxi and bus terminal in Kugbo, the Karu District of Abuja, was officially opened by the Minister on Tuesday.
The FCT Minister stated that the bus terminal will enhance security and make travelling in the FCT more enjoyable, even though he acknowledged the discomfort commuters face in the FCT, particularly during the rainy season, and the resulting loss of man hours caused by the lack of public transportation infrastructure.
