The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, will be observed as public holidays to mark the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations this year.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and conveyed through a statement by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
In his message, Minister Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims across Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
He encouraged the Muslim community to continue embodying the values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim. The minister also called on Muslims to use this time to pray for peace and prosperity throughout Nigeria.
Also, Tunji-Ojo assured Nigerians that the ongoing reforms and initiatives under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are aimed at restoring the nation’s progress and glory.
Eid-ul-Adha is a significant Islamic festival that commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
