FG declares state of emergency on Suleja-Minna road construction

The Nigerian government has announced a state of emergency on the construction of the Suleja-Minna road, citing the urgent need to address the deteriorating condition of the vital transport link.

The decision comes after years of complaints from motorists and residents about the poor state of the road, which has become a hotspot for accidents and prolonged traffic delays.

According to government officials, the declaration of a state of emergency will fast-track the completion of ongoing repairs and ensure the project receives immediate funding and attention.

The Suleja-Minna road is a critical artery connecting several states in the North-Central region, facilitating the movement of goods and passengers. Delays in its reconstruction have negatively impacted economic activities and commuter safety.

The Minister of Works emphasised that the government is committed to delivering quality infrastructure and will mobilise contractors to accelerate work on the road. Additionally, measures will be put in place to minimise disruptions for road users during the construction period.

Local communities and business owners along the route have welcomed the government’s decision, expressing hope that the intervention will bring lasting relief. The project is expected to be completed within a stipulated timeframe, with regular updates to be provided to the public.

This move aligns with the federal government’s broader plan to rehabilitate major highways, like the Suleja-Minna road across the country and improve transportation networks for national development.
