The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, or NIMASA, has been named the top federal government agency for digital transformation by the Presidency through the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, or BPSR.
The Director General of BPSR, who presented the Presidential award to NIMASA Management, also stated that Dr Bashir Jamoh, Director-General of NIMASA, has been nominated for the prestigious GovTech Trailblazers award for demonstrating excellent leadership.
The BPSR further stated that the awards were the outcome of a thorough evaluation of the national performance of all government MDAs, a countrywide nomination and an online voting procedure started by the Bureau.
The award ceremony is slated to take place in Abuja the next month.
Jamoh responded to the accolades by expressing his happiness and reassuring of the Agency’s commitment to complete operational digitization.
He said:
“This award is a pleasant surprise. We weren’t expecting it. We were just doing our job. This award will spur us to accelerate our quest to fully digitalize all NIMASA operations.”
The goal of public sector reform is to improve the efficiency of public sector organisations by consciously changing their organisational structures and operational procedures.
