Salihu Lukman, former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has cautioned Nigerians not to anticipate significant achievements from President Bola Tinubu’s administration before the end of his current term in May 2027.
Speaking on Channels TV’s “Inside Sources,” Lukman expressed his disillusionment with Tinubu’s leadership, contrasting it with the president’s tenure as Lagos State governor from 1999 to 2007.
He remarked that Tinubu’s current governance style deviates from the progressive ideals he once championed.
“For you to even expect something very wonderful to happen before May 2027, I will say you are a dreamer,” Lukman stated.
“I have reached the conclusion that I don’t think anything good is going to come out, and which is why we have to start organising.”
Lukman emphasised the need for a new political coalition built on a solid foundation, suggesting that the APC has failed to deliver on its promises.
He urged Nigerians to engage actively in the political process to ensure meaningful change, asserting that the country’s challenges can be addressed within their lifetime.
His comments reflect a growing sentiment among some political figures and Nigerians who are sceptical about the current administration’s ability to effect substantial progress.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with economic and security issues, Lukman’s remarks add to the ongoing discourse on the nation’s leadership and future direction.
