Sen. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), stated that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reported a 23% reduction in road crashes from January to date.

On Thursday, the SGF announced this during the commissioning of the newly constructed FRSC Sector Command’s Office in Kaduna.

Mr Iliyasu Agaka, Director, Affairs of Former Heads of State and State Protocol, represented Akume.

He noted that the outstanding successes of the corps so far were made possible by the current administration’s steadfast support on both the administrative and operational fronts.

According to Akume:

“I am fully aware that in this year alone, the corps recorded a huge over 23 per cent reduction in road crashes.

“This great edifice we are inaugurating today will motivate the staff to put in greater efforts for maximum performance.”

He claimed that during President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the FRSC has made enormous efforts to reduce road traffic collisions, deaths, and injuries.

“I must confess that I am now quite familiar with your main objectives of creating a conducive working environment for your workforce.

“Your approach to organizational management is in tandem with global best practices,” the SGF said.

FRSC, according to Akume, remained one of the few government organisations sincerely devoted to fulfilling the great obligations set on them by their Establishment Act, notwithstanding the hurdles that faced the realisation of the corporate purpose.
