The Federal Road Safety Corps, or FRSC, has issued a severe caution to motorists to avoid attacking its officers while performing their jobs.
Mr Anthony Uga, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, issued the warning while dealing with journalists in Sango-Ota on Monday.
He said that the warning was necessary because the FRSC has zero tolerance for attacking its employees.
According to him:
“Any motorist who decides to assault FRSC personnel will be apprehended and handed over to the police and the person will be charged to court accordingly for assaulting a uniformed personnel.
“However, whenever it happens, the perpetrator would definitely face the wrath of the law.”
Uga went on to say that it was an offence for an FRSC worker to assault a motorist public, and that anybody who did so would be prosecuted with a public-law violation.
The sector commander stated that the FRSC was not a conquering force, but rather operators who aimed to keep the routes safe.
