Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker, has identified four actions taken by former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan during his administration that may never be repeated by another president.
Shehu Sani, in a post on his official X handle on Sunday to commemorate Jonathan’s birthday, recalled how the former president appointed a Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, whom he “never knew and never met” as the Chairman of the INEC.
According to him:
“There are four things ex-President Jonathan did that may not be repeated by any other President in the nearest future: APPOINTED an Inec chairman he never knew and never met.”
Sani also pointed out that, while in office, the former president “approved the use of a data capturing system in the election that led to his eviction from power”.
Sani stated that Jonathan requested an “opposition candidate to nominate one INEC commissioner” during his administration.
The former lawmaker also praised the former President despite disagreeing “with the outcome of an election but went ahead and congratulated the Winner for the sake of peace and unity in the country”.
“To the Doves, he is a man of peace, true nationalist and a patriot and to the Hawks, he was a timid compromiser. GEJ saved the country in its most critical and crucial moments”, he added.
