Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has approved the release and publishing of the White Paper report of the complete visiting panel at Abia State University, Uturu.
In the same line, governor Otti has approved the nomination of Professor Ndukwe Okeudo as Vice Chancellor, a new management team, and a new governing council for the institution.
This was announced by the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, at the government house Umuahia on Monday, while updating media on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
He confirmed the appointment of Agwu U. Agwu as Pro-Chancellor, Mrs. Cathrine Uju Ifejika as Chancellor, and Dr. Onwubiko Dike as a member of the governing council. Two Deputy Vice Chancellors, four Senate members, two congregational members, one convocation member, a delegate from the state’s tertiary education ministry, and a new bursar have also been appointed.
According to the Commissioner, the appointments will take effect on November 1, 2024.
“You are aware that the visitation panel was put in place to ascertain the problems the university has and come up with solutions.
“The first in the series of reforms that would take place there has commenced with the appointments that have been made,” Kanu, the Information Commissioner, said.
