The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has pledged that by the end of March, the ongoing pension arrears problem in Abia State will be permanently fixed, citing significant progress in that direction.
He made the guarantee during the monthly media discussion with journalists on Monday.
Otti stated that his government is committed to resolving any blockages associated with pension arrears.
Concerning why some civil servants have not received their salaries for several months despite undergoing verification, the Governor stated that a meeting has been scheduled with the Accountant General and Commissioner for Finance to resolve issues that are causing those affected to not receive their salaries alongside colleagues.
Regarding the promised upward review of Abia workers’ pay and the federal government salary award to workers across the country, he stated that a committee has been working on modalities and execution and that the committee’s report is due shortly.
