IG approves promotion of 10,581 Police Officers from all rank and file

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the promotion of 10,581 deserving junior officers of the Inspectorate Cadre, and the Rank and File.

Following this direction, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG, oversaw the Department of Finance and Administration. Bala Ciroma has been tasked with coordinating efforts with the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to begin the promotion process.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, confirmed this in Abuja, stating that 9,831 Police Constables will be promoted to the rank of Corporal, eighty-one (81) Corporals will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and six hundred and sixty-nine (669) officers will be promoted from the rank of Sergeant to Inspector.

He stated that the IGP’s approval of the promotions reaffirmed the Force leadership’s commitment to fostering a meritocratic culture and career advancement.

He emphasised the need of timely promotions in improving officer morale and the Force’s overall efficiency.

He added that it is a cornerstone for the Nigeria Police Force’s continuing manpower development activities.

While emphasising that promotions in the Force will be based exclusively on merit, the IGP expressed his heartfelt congratulations to those officers up for promotion and urged them to maintain the highest levels of professionalism, integrity, and dedication to the nation.
