The office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the Takai community, Kano State have been burned down. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday. Unidentified people began beating people which forced election observers, journalists and INEC officials alike to flee to safety. They had to hide in the shadows while the arsonists set offices on fire.
One of the victims, a journalist – Mr Salenasco, said the suspect is believed to be a supporter of one of the political parties.
Victims are now hospitalized with injuries of varying severity. Suspected perpetrators namely Garba Gambo, Shehu Na-marka, and Abdullahi Dan-jalingo have been arrested and an unidentified man is said to be on the run.
