The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has ordered the deployment of 206 Assistant Commissioners of Police and 86 Deputy Commissioners.

The deployment will be to various zone commands, state commands, and police formations nationwide. The exercise aims to achieve citizen-led policing effectively nationwide.

The deployment aims to ensure that old Commissioners of Police deputize senior officers. As a result, most senior officers will perform critical administrative, investigative, and operational police duties.

The Public Relations Officer of the Force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made this known in a statement released on Saturday.

According to Adejobi,

“The postings were done in order to strengthen and catalyse national security mechanisms towards an improved policing system across the country. The IG assured the general public of effective policing for the betterment of our dear nation.

“He charged the senior officers to ensure strategic display of experience, commitment to service, respect for fundamental rights, and evolve effective strategies for crime control”
