Iran has issued a formal response to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian groups, presenting what it describes as a viable solution to end hostilities.
In a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Tehran emphasised that lasting peace can only be achieved through a complete cessation of Israeli military operations in Gaza and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state.
The Iranian government criticised what it called “Western interference” in the region and insisted that any meaningful resolution must prioritise Palestinian self-determination.
The statement also condemned Israel’s military actions, labelling them as disproportionate and in violation of international law. Iranian officials urged the international community to pressure Israel into agreeing to an immediate ceasefire and engaging in direct negotiations with Palestinian representatives.
The response comes after Trump made remarks suggesting that the conflict could be resolved through forceful measures, a stance Tehran strongly rejected.
Iran instead proposed a diplomatic approach, calling for an international peace conference involving all regional stakeholders. The statement reiterated Iran’s long-standing position that the rights of Palestinians must be at the centre of any peace agreement.
Analysts note that Iran’s proposal aligns with its broader regional strategy, which seeks to position itself as a key player in Middle Eastern diplomacy. However, scepticism remains over whether its vision for peace will gain traction, given ongoing tensions with Israel and its Western allies.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Iran’s commitment to supporting what it described as “legitimate resistance” against Israeli occupation while advocating for a political solution to end the cycle of violence.
The international community continues to monitor developments, with many hoping for a breakthrough that could bring an end to the devastating conflict.
