Israel and Palestine have agreed to de-escalate tensions and “prevent further violence“. Palestinian and Israeli delegations met in Jordan to ease tensions ahead of Ramadan, the holy month of Islam.
In a joint statement, Israel agreed to suspend her approval of new settlements in the occupied West Bank for four to six months. Delegates agreed to meet again next month in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, working towards a “just and lasting peace“.
As the negotiators were meeting, a Palestine gunman killed two Israeli brothers in the northern West Bank.
The army was looking for the attacker and Israel’s defence minister called for an increased military presence in the West Bank.
