Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has joined the ongoing “End Bad Governance” protests as thousands of Nigerians take to the streets, calling out the ruling government.
The protests, which began on August 1st, have sparked controversy and reports of mild violence in some areas, with many citizens expressing their grievances through the media.
Iyabo Ojo shared a video on her Instagram page addressing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to ensure that the protest remains peaceful by instructing law enforcement to allow citizens their right to demonstrate without interference. She wrote:
“officialasiwajubat, please, sir, kindly speak to your men to caution their men ….. allow a peaceful protest….. thank you.#peacefulprotest is their right.”
Iyabo Ojo also posted various videos showing her support and solidarity with the protesters.
Iyabo Ojo’s involvement in the protest is consistent with her previous political stance. During the 2023 general elections, she supported the political rival of the ruling party, earning her respect from Peter Obi’s supporters and criticism from others.
Recently, Iyabo Ojo celebrated her son Festus Ojo’s graduation from Altinbas University in Istanbul, Turkey. She shared photos from the ceremony, expressing pride in her son’s hard work and dedication. In her message, she also acknowledged the challenges of being a single mother and praised all single parents as true heroes and champions.
