U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that individuals caught sabotaging Tesla vehicles could face up to 20 years in prison.
Trump made the statement on Friday in a post on his Truth Social account, emphasizing that both perpetrators and those funding such acts would be held accountable.
“People that get caught sabotaging Tesla’s will stand a very good chance of going to jail for up to twenty years, and that includes the funders. WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!!!” he wrote.
His announcement follows U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi’s recent charges against three individuals accused of setting Tesla properties on fire.
In a statement, Bondi confirmed that the suspects used Molotov cocktails to ignite Tesla vehicles and vowed they would face the full force of the law.
She condemned the attacks, calling them “nothing short of domestic terrorism.”
Earlier this week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk attributed the fires at one of his company’s Las Vegas facilities to “terrorism,” further fueling concerns over targeted attacks against the electric vehicle manufacturer.
