Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has turned his attention to Manchester City and their financial situation, drawing a comparison to Everton’s predicament, which might lead to a potential points deduction.
The spotlight currently shines on Everton, who could be facing the risk of relegation this season due to alleged breaches of profit and sustainability rules. The Premier League is contemplating a substantial 12-point deduction for the Toffees, should the allegations be substantiated.
Carragher took to X to voice his concerns and question why Manchester City’s situation seems to have fallen into silence despite facing more than 100 allegations of financial law violations.
“The Premier League is seeking a 12-point deduction for Everton based on a single charge,” wrote the former defender.
He continued, “If the Premier League has its way, Man City might find themselves in the National League North! It’s remarkable how much attention Everton’s situation has garnered, despite having 114 fewer charges and being a more extended case, whereas Man City’s allegations have gone relatively quiet.”
Carragher’s observations underscore the stark contrast in the visibility of these financial investigations within English football’s elite clubs.
