Jigawa State Government has officially declared Monday, September 8, 2025, as the resumption date for both public and private schools across the state.

This announcement was made by the State Commissioner for the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Professor Isa Yusuf Chamo, through a statement issued by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Easily Umar. The date signifies the beginning of the 2025/2026 first-term academic session.

According to the detailed schedule, boarding students are expected to return to their respective schools on Sunday, September 7th, to allow for proper settlement before academic activities begin. Day students are to resume on Monday, September 8th, with normal lessons commencing immediately.

The Commissioner emphasised that the ministry has made all necessary preparations to ensure a smooth start to the new term, including the provision of essential teaching aids designed to facilitate effective teaching and learning environments in all schools.

Professor Chamo made a heartfelt appeal to parents and guardians, urging them to ensure their children and wards return to school promptly on the designated resumption day. He also directed all teachers to be present at their posts and to begin lessons without delay.

To enforce this directive and ensure compliance, the ministry has deployed its staff to monitor schools throughout the state, verifying that resumption protocols are followed and that academic activities commence as planned. This measure underscores the state’s commitment to maintaining educational standards and minimising disruptions to the academic calendar.
