Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has rebuffed Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress,’s request to join the ruling party on Friday.
Gov Yusuf’s answer came only 24 hours after the bulk of Kano APC stakeholders agreed to reconcile with the Kwankwasiyya movement.
To this point, it appeared like Ganduje had finally followed President Bola Tinubu’s instruction to encourage Yusuf and other New Nigeria Peoples Party members to reconcile and join the APC.
At the close of the APC stakeholders meeting in Kano last Thursday, he restated his acceptance for Yusuf’s triumph in the Supreme Court verdict.
In response to Ganduje, Kano State Governor Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director-General of Media and Publicity, said that Yusuf, his boss, had completely rejected the call.
He said that the governor received Ganduje’s plea through various social media platforms just like everyone else and that the administration was still unaware of the call’s motivation.
According to him:
“Well, like every other folks in Kano, the Governor of Ganduje’s calls via social media platforms, we believe, as a former governor, he should know the right channel of communication, if he sincerely wants to pass a message to the governor.
“And as for whether or not the governor will join APC, I can confirm to you that my boss has no intention to dump his party, the NNPP for any other party. Let me repeat, the governor has no interest in joining any party because he’s satisfied with the NNPP.”
