Kano NNPP Expels Federal Lawmaker Kofa Over Anti-Party Activities

Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has officially expelled Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, a member of the House of Representatives, citing allegations of anti-party activities and a failure to fulfill his financial commitments to the party.

The announcement was made by the state party chairman, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, during a press briefing held in Kano on Saturday.

Dungurawa stated that the decision to expel the lawmaker was the culmination of a series of actions deemed detrimental to the party.

He specifically pointed to Kofa’s repeated media outbursts, where he publicly criticized the NNPP and its leadership, as a primary reason for the severe disciplinary measure. The chairman emphasized that such behaviour was unacceptable and violated the party’s constitution and codes of conduct.

In his remarks, Dungurawa dismissed Jibrin’s political influence, describing him as a “weak politician.” He argued that the lawmaker’s electoral success was not a product of his own strength but was entirely facilitated by the support of the Kwankwasiyya movement and the platform provided by the NNPP.

To substantiate his claim, Dungurawa reminded journalists that Kofa had previously failed to win his election while under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC). It was only upon defecting to the NNPP and aligning with the Kwankwasiyya political structure that he secured a seat in the federal legislature. The chairman concluded that the expelled member was now under the illusion of his own political strength, a notion the party firmly rejected.
