Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has announced the installation of CCTV cameras in schools as part of efforts to bolster security and ensure the safety of students and teachers.
Speaking during the distribution of educational materials at the Government House in Katsina on Tuesday, Radda emphasized the significance of the initiative.
“The security of our students and teachers is paramount. Installing CCTV cameras will not only deter criminal activities but also provide real-time monitoring to enhance safety measures in our schools,” the governor said.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve the education sector in the state. Governor Radda also announced the provision of 25,000 textbooks each for Mathematics, Computer Science, and English Language for pupils in Basic 4-6.
Additionally, 18 buses were distributed to improve project coordination, along with special needs equipment for the School for the Blind.
To address infrastructure deficits, the state government has allocated ₦4.737 billion for constructing classrooms, toilet facilities, and water infrastructure in 150 primary schools across Katsina.
Governor Radda urged community members and School-Based Management Committees to actively maintain school facilities and ensure student safety.
He also highlighted the administration’s commitment to enhancing teachers’ welfare, including implementing a reward system to recognize and motivate dedicated educators.
“By ensuring the provision of essential resources and infrastructure, the government aims to foster an environment where every child has the opportunity to excel and reach their full potential,” he added.
