Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris has begun disbursing a N3 billion livelihood assistance award to 15,000 recipients throughout the state, with each receiving N200,000.
Speaking at the event in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, the governor told people that his administration was ready to offer the necessary assistance and priority to fulfil the scheme’s goal of having a significant effect.
However, the governor warned authorities in charge of disbursing the award that the state government would not tolerate the monies being diverted to purposes other than their intended use.
According to the Governor:
“Let me advise the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money by investing in gainful ventures that would generate income and enable them to become not only self-reliant but also employers of labour.
“We have set up independent verification agents from the World Bank where the staff of the Ministry of Budget would monitor the utilisation of the money, to ensure the money was not diverted to different uses.”
