Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the release of N1.14 billion for the payment of gratuities and death benefits to 445 contract staff.

The announcement was made by the Director in the Office of the Head of Service, Rashidu Muhammad-Bala, in a statement issued on Wednesday.

The total sum of N1,144,428,745.74 is designated to cover the entitlements of workers who either retired or passed away while in service.

This significant disbursement is part of the state government’s efforts to address outstanding benefits owed to the affected workers, ensuring they receive their due compensation.

Muhammad-Bala emphasised that the governor’s approval reflects the administration’s commitment to the welfare of civil servants, particularly those who have dedicated years of service to the state.

The payment is expected to provide much-needed relief to the beneficiaries and their families, many of whom have been waiting for their entitlements.

The Kebbi State government has reiterated its dedication to clearing all pending gratuities and death benefits in phases, with this latest release marking a critical step in fulfilling that promise.

The move has been welcomed by workers and stakeholders, who see it as a positive development in improving the welfare of public servants in the state.

Governor Idris has assured that his administration will continue to prioritise the well-being of workers, including prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements, to foster a motivated and productive workforce.
