Kebbi: Police intercept cannabis, 7,500 boxes of live cartridges worth N600m

The Kebbi State Police Command announced yesterday, that it had seized two trucks of marijuana and 7,500 cartons of live ammunition valued at N6 million in Kebbi State.

According to Nafiu Abubakar, the Police Command arrested three individuals in connection with the illegal consignments near the Tsamiyya border in the state’s Bagudo Local Government Area.

Emmanuel Chukwuma from Abia State, Kanta Bisa from the Republic of Ghana, and Shola Olufon from Ondo State are the suspects in the first truck, according to him. They were in transit from Ghana through Benin and Tsamiyya town in Kebbi with the intention to continue the journey to Lagos as the final destination.

Nafiu further stated that the accused evaded nine checkpoints in Ghana and Benin Republic before being apprehended and the dangerous materials confiscated by the police.

The second driver, Abdulrazak Agboola from Oyo State, said he was paid N200,000 to drive the truck carrying 7,500 boxes of live cartridges to Lagos. Chukwuma, the suspected mastermind, claimed he was hired by someone in Ghana and given N400,000.
