Kwara govt warns commercial transporters against illegal motor parks

The Kwara State Government has issued a stern warning to commercial transport operators against the establishment and operation of unauthorised motor parks, emphasising the need to adhere strictly to designated terminals.

This directive aims to enhance road safety, reduce traffic congestion, and maintain order within the state’s transportation system.

Authorities have observed a proliferation of informal roadside loading points, particularly in Ilorin, the state capital.

These unauthorised parks contribute to traffic gridlock, pose safety hazards, and undermine the state’s efforts to regulate the transport sector effectively.

The government has reiterated its commitment to enforcing existing laws and regulations governing motor park operations.

Transport unions and operators are urged to comply with these directives to avoid sanctions.

To ensure compliance, the state plans to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including transport unions and law enforcement agencies.

This collaboration will facilitate monitoring and enforcement activities, ensuring that transporters operate within the confines of the law.

The government also appeals to commuters to patronise only officially recognised motor parks for their safety and convenience.

By doing so, they support the state’s initiative to create a more organised and efficient transportation system.

Failure to comply with these regulations may result in penalties, including the closure of illegal parks and legal action against defaulters.

The Kwara State Government remains resolute in its determination to sanitise the transport sector and promote a safe, orderly, and efficient road network for all residents.
