The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has warned that severe rainfall that might cause flooding is expected to occur in 19 states and 56 towns nationwide this month, August.
This was announced in a statement released on Monday in Lagos by Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator for NEMA.
The states and towns he listed are
- Delta – Aboh
- Ekiti State – Ado Ekiti
- Ondo State – Akure, Idanre, Ifon, Iju Itaogbolu, Ogbese, Owo, Owena and Ondo
- Lagos State – Apapa, Badagry, Eti Osa, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Ikoyi, Lagos Island, Ojo and Surulere
- Anambra – Atani
- Ogun – Ifo, Ota and Sagamu
- Nasarawa State – Lafia and Wamba
- Cross River – Ikom and Ogoja.
- Bauchi State – Jamaare, Misau, Azare, Itas, Kafin Madaki, Kari, Kirfi, Tafawa Balewa and Katagum
- Jigawa – Hadejia and Miga
- Osun State – Ilesa and Osogbo
- Kwara – Kosubosu.
- Zamfara – Anka, Bungudu and Gusau
- Sokoto State – Goronyo
- Adamawa – Numan and Shelleng
- Taraba – Serti
- Benue – Ito, Katsina-Ala and Vande-Ikya
- Imo State – Oguta and Orlu
- Abia State – Ugba.
