On Saturday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu inaugurated the Lagos State Special Dispensation “Palliative” Advisory Committee members.
Sanwo-Olu announced three-pronged intervention actions to alleviate economic distress during a special media briefing on Thursday.
The committee is chaired by Sanwo-Olu, with Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor, serving as alternative chairman.
At the inauguration at Lagos House in Marina, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensure appropriate monitoring and execution of the interventions put in place to alleviate the economic hardship that citizens are now experiencing.
Sanwo-Olu stated that the committee’s purpose was to advise and propose suggestions for creating an environment that would be interesting and rewarding for people.
He stated that members of the intervention committee include cabinet officials and diverse stakeholders such as religious leaders, and nonpartisan groups that straddle political parties, activists, and other celebrities.
Sanwo-Olu stated that members of the committee were identified and chosen for ease of communication and reporting as they had their introduction meeting to discuss the rules of engagement for the interventions.
Other members of the committee include: Imam Abdulazeez Onike, Chief Missioner, NASFAT, Seyi Sowunmi, a Labour Party, LP, member House of Representatives, Mrs Joe Okei-Odumakin, Chairman of Conference 57, comprising chairmen of Local Governments and Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Kolade Alabi, former Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Barrister Taofeeq Ganiu, Dr. Shina Fagbenro-Byron, LP member, former DFID official, Ademola Shabi, member House of Representatives, and Comrade Biliaminu Oba, a youth representative.
Mrs. Sola Salako-Ajulo (Consumer Rights Advocate) and Pastor Gorman Akinlabi, a Senior Pastor, Elevation Church, and Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government as Secretary of the committee.
