Prof. Tajudeen Olumoko, Dean of Student Affairs of Lagos State University, Ojo, has been fired.
His expulsion was in response to a news article published by an online news site (not NaijaPr) on Monday.
According to the report, a certificate racketeering syndicate sold authentic Lagos State University diplomas for between N2m and N3m, depending on the difficulty of the subject concerned.
Meanwhile, Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, a senior professor at the Department of Political Science, has been named as acting DSA.
A university insider who did not want to be identified confirmed the removal to reporters, adding:
“Yes, it is true, Olumoko has been removed and Abatan has taken over as DSA. This happened yesterday, (Tuesday).”
Reacting to the dissmal of school of Prof Olumoko, LASU’s Coordinator of Information and Public Relations, Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, said:
“I can’t say if he has been removed or not. I am not yet in the office. So, I don’t know anything yet.”
The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the Senate of the tertiary institution, and other senior staff members were among those invited by the Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday in response to recent accusations of extortion and certificate racketeering against the institution.
