The mother of the late Nigerian rapper Oladips has become the center of online discussion after a video surfaced, revealing her unusual request in response to her son’s distress.
Oladips, whose real name is Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, passed away on November 14th, 2023, at 10:14 PM, and the circumstances leading up to his demise have sparked controversy.
Before his passing, a video circulated online capturing the rapper collapsing and being rushed to the hospital. However, prior to the video’s release, Oladips had taken to his Instagram stories, expressing concern about being left alone in the house. In the post, he mentioned his friend @onlyonelifetime, desperately seeking their presence given his condition.
The rapper’s plea read:
Onlyonelifetime_Please Where Are You? I Done Call Your Number Tire. I Talk Say Make Una No Dey Leave Only Me For This House, I Done Talk This Thing Like A Million Times… Not Even This Period Like This Please Dey Come House Please Tori Olorun.”
In a subsequent video, @Onlyonelifetime, Oladips’ friend, shared that the rapper’s mother did not want her son to be taken to the hospital. Reportedly, the mother insisted on Oladips being returned to her care.
This development has triggered a wave of criticism, with actress Etinosa and other celebrities condemning the rapper for what they perceive as a poorly executed stunt. Etinosa described the incident as a badly written script, while others expressed concern that such actions could make people skeptical about responding to genuine cries for help.
As the controversy unfolds, social media users, fans, and celebrities engage in discussions about the responsibility of individuals and the importance of discerning genuine calls for assistance from potential publicity stunts. The tragic passing of Oladips has sparked broader conversations about mental health awareness and the potential consequences of mixing personal struggles with social media dynamics.
