Manchester City has beaten Liverpool at the Etihad stadium. This will ensure they maintain their momentum in the title race, as they chase Arsenal for the ultimate price.

In spite of the absence of their talisman, Erling Haaland, who is out injured, the goals kept coming for the home side.

Mo Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool from a Trent Alexeander-Arnold pass to Diogo Jota, who laid down the ball to the Egyptian to score his 23rd goal of the season.

The visitor’s joy was however short-lived as Alvarez equalized 10 minutes later to take the game level at the half-time break.

A few seconds into the second half, Kevin De Bruyne scored to make it 2-1, and a few minutes later Ilkay Gundogan scored to make it 3-1. Jack Grealish scored his first home goal to make it 4-1.

The win takes Manchester City within five points of league leaders Arsenal and Liverpool seven points off the top four with Tottenham yet to play. This is Liverpool’s 9th loss of the season.
