Nigerian singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as May D, has broken his silence after being called out for an alleged unpaid debt of N11,000 by a waitress identified as Black Goddess.
The incident, which garnered attention on social media, saw Black Goddess recounting her encounter with the singer, claiming he left an outstanding balance after patronizing the hotel where she works.
According to Black Goddess, May D and his friends visited the hotel on January 12, 2024, and incurred a bill of N56,000 for food and drinks. Despite reminders, May D allegedly only paid N45,000, leaving a balance of N11,000 unpaid since January. She accompanied her claims with screenshots of her interactions with the singer.
In response to the allegations, May D took to the micro-blogging platform X to address the situation, urging those criticizing him to desist and revealing his financial struggles. He stated that he is currently broke but promised to settle the debt at the end of the month when he receives his salary from his employer. May D also requested Black Goddess to provide her account details for payment.
