May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie and daughter-in-law of Pete Edochie, recently moved women to tears at the NHN Women Network Conference in Doha, Qatar.
During the women’s retreat, she shared the painful story of her first son Kambilichukwu’s passing, a loss that came amidst her public divorce from Yul Edochie.
May, who has garnered strong support from Nigerians as she navigates these challenges, spoke candidly about her journey. Her resilience resonated deeply with attendees, including actress Shaffy Bello, who became visibly emotional along with many others in the room.
- Helen Paul: “Painful. Oh God Almighty.”
- Trina Jones: “Wow, women are going through a lot. See the way they’re all crying.”
- Peace Kulture636: “Chai. Her son’s death pains me eh.”
- I Am Olubukola: “The fact that this woman lost her son in the midst of these and she’s still standing strong! God bless you, May.”
May Edochie’s strength has drawn admiration from many, as she continues to carry herself with grace despite the tragedies. Her personal life took a public turn in 2022 when Yul Edochie’s marriage to his colleague Judy Austin became known, resulting in May filing for divorce. She has since requested a restraining order, secured full custody of her children, and filed a demand for compensation from Judy.
Earlier this year, May also opened up about her struggles, sharing how she was expected to succumb to self-pity but instead chose resilience.
Amid overwhelming challenges, she has continued to mark new beginnings, crediting her healing journey to the support and love from the public.
