Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe Adeoti has addressed her ex-husband Asiwaju Lanre Gentry’s recent remarks regarding their son.
Lanre Gentry had taken to social media to celebrate their son Olajuwon’s 14th birthday, simultaneously accusing Mercy of keeping their son away from him. He expressed satisfaction that Olajuwon is growing up to recognize him as his father and can seek him out independently of his mother.
In an apparent response, Mercy Aigbe posted striking photos of herself in a stylish two-piece outfit on social media. She captioned the images,
Running Errands. And YES! My Facecard Never Declines!!!! If you doubt, check the last slides.” This post seemed to be a direct taunt to her ex-husband, emphasizing her enduring beauty and confidence.
This public exchange is not the first between the former couple. They have had several disputes, especially on significant days like Father’s Day and Children’s Day. Lanre Gentry has previously confirmed the paternity of his son amidst growing concerns from the public, which led some netizens to urge him to conduct a DNA test for Olajuwon. In one such instance, Gentry shaded Mercy, calling her derogatory names and questioning the need for multiple DNA tests.
Adding to the drama, fans had reacted to allegations from Kazim Adeoti’s first wife, Funsho Adeoti, who accused Mercy Aigbe of having an affair with her husband while she was caring for her son. This accusation fueled further controversy, with Lanre Gentry responding by making disparaging comments about Mercy.
In September 2021, Lanre Gentry moved on from the tumultuous relationship by marrying his new partner, Oluwabusola, in a traditional ceremony. The couple welcomed a baby girl shortly after.
